A PhD student at the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism. I hail from a town called Kottappuram, in Malappuram district of Kerala. After BSc. in physics from Government College, Malappuram I joined for MSc. Physics course at Jamal Mohamed College, Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Then I did a BEd. from SCTE Areekode. After BEd., I joined AAS College, Changaramkulam as a lecturer. During that time my dream to be a researcher came to my mind very strongly. I joined for MPhil in the Dept. of Theoretical Physics, University of Madras.
It was at the Equatorial Geophysical Research Laboratory (EGRL), Tirunelveli, a regional center of IIG, that I joined for my PhD. EGRL is located right at the geomagnetic equator of the earth. IIG is operating several experimental and remote sensing facilities there. After one year at the village called Vittalapuram in Tirunelveli, I had to move to the main center of IIG at Navi Mumbai since my guide got a transfer there. Got my life partner there. Again I came back to EGRL to continue my works.
My research studies are centered around various dynamical processes going on in the atmosphere and their effects on the electrodynamics of the ionosphere. These include atmospheric tides generated by lunar gravitation and solar heating of the atmosphere and various wave activities going on in the atmosphere from surface of the earth upto more than hundred kilometer above the surface.
Basically my idea to start this blog was only to improve my English writing skills. Some of the posts are very badly written because of my hurry, thinking that I will rewrite them later in a better way. All are welcome to comment, criticize and share their views on the posts in my blog. I am sure those will be the only things that will help me improve my life and views.

ReplyDeleteThanks for coming here :)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteMy sister got selected for PhD at iig.
Please help me to know more about iig and future after phd
Congratulations to her. IIG is a nice place to do research. The success depends mostly on how wisely she selects her guide, assuming that she has joined PhD with passion. She may seek help from senior students there. I came out of IIG and is writing my thesis.
